At my local elementary schools, there is an atrium that is surrounded by the walkways of the school halls. It is commonly seen everyday. However, the atrium was overgrown, in addition to the wrong soil type resulting in many weak/dead plants.
My projects goal was create a low maintenance garden with low impact plants, removal of dead plants along with a self-watering system using the adjacent water spigot.
I solicited help from my troop to clear out the area, dig and plant, along with carrying equipment to and from the school. The Suffield Garden Club graciously provided funds for the dirt and plants.
